Location: Chicago, IL – Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
Duration: 12-month Contract (High possibility of extension)
Employment Type: W2 only
Visa Requirement: 12+ months of valid work authorization required
Preferred Candidate Base: Local to Chicago, IL or nearby locations
Job Description:
The Oracle Database Developer will be responsible for delivering robust and efficient database solutions to meet complex business goals. This includes development, testing, and integration of database components with a focus on performance and compliance. The role also includes responsibilities around ETL development, code deployment, and leading smaller initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in database development using Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata, or similar platforms.
5+ years of Oracle development with strong expertise in stored procedures.
Advanced SQL skills with in-depth experience using Oracle Exadata.
4+ years of Shell Scripting experience.
Hands-on experience with Autosys or similar job scheduling tools.
Familiarity with Bitbucket and XL-Deploy for code versioning and deployment.
Experience working in Agile teams, preferably with SAFe Agile methodologies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to coordinate with product owners and cross-functional teams.
Ability to work independently, including taking ownership of release management responsibilities.
Eagerness to learn and adopt new technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, enhance, and maintain database and ETL processes ensuring smooth data flow for analytics and operations.
Design and develop data warehouses, complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and ETL jobs.
Ensure software solutions meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements.
Work closely with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and implement data-driven solutions.
Participate in story refinement, requirement estimation, and Agile ceremonies.
Contribute to unit testing, integration testing, and performance testing pipelines.
Participate in spikes or proof-of-concepts to explore new technologies or mitigate risks.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience with non-relational databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
Proficiency in database normalization techniques.
Leadership or mentorship experience in team settings is a plus.
Job requirements
Expert-level RedHat Linux Administration
Bash & Python scripting
Server hardware performance testing
Strong knowledge of XML, JSON, and OEM APIs
Experience with Bare Metal Provisioning
Nice-to-Have Skills:
Familiarity with GPUs in data center environments
VMware, vSphere, ESXi, VCF, vRealize
Hyper-V, KVM, KubeVirt, Nutanix, NSX-T
Exposure to Kubernetes (K8s) and container networking
Hands-on with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Express
Experience with S3 storage protocols
Experience migrating from OpenStack to other VM platforms
Additional Information:
No C2C or 1099 – W2 only
